Well the FSN Chicago coverage was horrendous but ironically it seemed to fit considering the venue was a High School gym, the coverage was very "high school". You had to keep score in your head because the Illini could score 2 more baskets before they ever put up the points from the scores 3 baskets earlier, a guy would make 2 free throws and they'd only put up 1 point for awhile, and often they would even put the points in the other team's column.
With that aside, this game was something to see. We beat Cincinnati at their game even though they took us out of ours. Maxiel and Hicks were frustrated. The things that Cincy had done so effortlessly against other teams suddenly weren't there against the Illini.
The aspect of the game that was the difference and really will be all through the season that sets them apart from almost anyone else...Discipline. The Illini are not going to give anything away. Teams in the Big Ten are going to have to have a hot shooting night to beat us.
