  The doubters remain
Despite spending their fifth straight week at the top of the polls and not trailing in a game since early December, the Illini still have their doubters. Elton Alexander of the Cleveland Plain Dealer calls Illinois a disappointment waiting to happen and says the program inevitably "fades come March." (Thanks to alert reader "Nate from Chicago" who pointed out this article).

Big Ten Wonk has taken Alexander to task for this strange column in this post. As you can see, Alexander's bizarre logic quickly falls apart when placed under the scrutiny of the blogosphere.
