Dee Brown to declare for 2005 NBA Draft
ESPN.com is
reporting that Illinois junior Dee Brown will declare for the 2005 NBA Draft today but not sign with an agent.
Illini Wonk expected this, but still believes that Brown will be in Champaign next year leading the Fighting Illini as they pursue a third straight outright Big Ten conference title. In a earlier
post,
Brendan McGovern said
I think Brown understands that he can really improve his draft stock by being THE guy for Illinois next season.
Marlen Garcia of the Chicago Tribune writes
some NBA scouts believe Brown would not be drafted until the second round which means no guaranteed contract. According to his brother Kevin, Brown will go only if
he would be projected to go in the first round.
As Adam Rittenberg points out in the Daily Herald, Brown would have until
June 21 to withdraw from the NBA Draft.
At the time of this post, there was no word on a possible news conference today. Stay tuned to Illini Wonk for further news...
