Illini land second big 2007 recruit in Bill Cole
Yesterday, Peoria Richwoods Junior Center Bill Cole gave his verbal commitment to play basketball at the University of Illinois, joining Eric Gordon in Illinois' 2007 recruiting class. The the 6-foot-9, 200-pound junior (who is still growing) is compared to Brian Cook by his high school coach. A teammate of Jamar Smith last year, Cole is averaging 16.2 points and 10 rebounds per game this season.

Brian Stinnette at Chicago Hoops had this to say about Cole, one of the top Illinois prospects in his class: Cole, who stands 6-9, is tall, long and highly skilled. Last year, as a sophomore, he was a teammate of Jamar Smith, who is currently starring as a freshman at Illinois. Cole has excellent shooting range for a player his size, and with added strength, could develop into a force inside.
