Illini to face Spartans in Big Ten Tourney
The Michigan State's
70-58 win over Purdue set up the third meeting of the season between the Illini and the Spartans. Illinois won the first two and it's usually pretty tough to beat a good team three times in the same season.
If Illinois beats the Spartans, they will have about
14 1/2 hours before their next game against the winner of the Minnesota/Iowa game. After a tough game today, that would be an even more difficult turnaround time for Michigan State. As John Supinie put it, the Spartans have the toughest road to the
Big Ten tourney title.
Can the Illini win the tournament for the second year in a row? Dave Dye of the
Detroit News thinks so. On his blog, Mark Tupper says that the Illinois players are sounding like the tourney matters.
Bring ‘em on says Illinois forward James Augustine.
